Borneo Confrontation:
Description of artwork…
This part of my artwork again was quite similar to the Malayan Emergency. It was based in the jungle and as I scrolled through internet images, I couldn’t pick one topic for my artwork. One thing I knew I had to include was the jungle-like background that I continually saw in many images. Instead of doing the long grass that I drew in for the Malayan emergency, I drew large leaves to represent the jungle background, to add some variety to the background of each artwork. Since I included the large leaves in the background of this part of my artwork, now I had to think of what else will be happening in the image. So I looked back at the images of the Indonesian Confrontation to see if they would be person-based or machinery based. In these images, there were more person-based images rather than machinery based, so I pinpointed that this part of my artwork, would be person based. I decided I would pick an image, kind of like in the Korean war, and draw that as my reference. I found an image of a man standing in the middle of a photo all alone, from what it seemed, wearing a short-sleeved uniform, with baggy pants and a bucket hat, holding a rifle.
