Second Boer War:
Description of artwork…
I was scrolling through Google images with the words ‘Second Boer War’ in my search bar, and I saw multiple things. The most common factor or similar image that popped up as I searched was enormous amounts of men generally in large groups, sometimes huddled together. Most of these images were taken out on a bare landscape that appeared to be quite hilly in some areas. These men were sometimes sitting on the hillside, or in the depths of a trench. But one of the common factors between all these images was that all these men bore a rifle, sometimes relaxed but most of the time they were in an aiming position. As shown in the image of my artwork, you can see a person pointing a rifle out to the left, with the South African flag in the background. The figure in the image is only a solid block of color, so it draws one’s eye to the center of this artwork for black is a harsh shade that can attract one’s eye. I painted the figure in this artwork this way because it was a continuous theme I saw while searching the internet for inspiration.
