Russian Civil War:

Description of artwork…

When researching this war, it was quite interesting because almost all the images that popped up while I was searching, were the same. All these images contained men, in long buttoned-up uniforms standing in lines or rows. These lined men were generally standing in front of a building of some kind or a street. Sometimes these large groups of men would be holding up a flag or a banner. Since these lined men were a continuous pattern that I saw throughout searching the Russian civil war, I included it in my artwork. From what I understood, I felt like the large amounts of men set in rows, was a sign of intimidation and power, as if to say ‘We have power over you.’ to opponents. In my artwork I wanted to include this row of men walking in a line off to war, to represent what I saw in these images while searching the Russian civil war. As the background, I included the Russian flag.
