Iraq War

From 2003 to 2011

This was a war linked in with the Gulf war. On the 20th of March 2003, combined forces of American, British and Australian troops under US leadership invaded Iraq, in what was termed the ‘Second Gulf war’ or in this case ‘The Iraq War. After the Gulf war had ended there were suspicions of Iraq holding and having prohibited nuclear, and biological ‘Weapons of mass destruction in their grasp.’ In the Iraq war, the American, British, and Australian troops' goals were to locate and destroy this suspected weapon of mass destruction. Small but highly effective Australian Army, Air force, and Navy elite teams lements were used to assist in the discovery of these WMD operation. The Iraq war was a conflict fought between Iraq and a group of countries led by the United States and the United Kingdom. Within three weeks, Saddam Hussein, the president of Iraq, had been overthrown by troops, however, no weapons of mass destruction were found. The war ended in December 2011, when the US military formally declared the end of the Iraq war in a ceremony in Baghdad on December 15th, 2011, as US troops prepared to withdraw from Iraq. The conflict ended in an effective stalemate and a cease-fire. More than eight years later,  more than half a million allied & Iraqi soldiers and civilians had been killed.
